HAROLD ALBERT MCCUMBER Peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Selkirk Betel Home, Harold Albert McCumber passed away at the age of 80. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Mildred McCumber. Harold is survived by his sister Kathleen Setter; his sons, Shaun, Michael, Patrick, and granddaughter Vanessa. Left to mourn is his wife Shirley and her children, Kim (Lorne), Terry (Shannon) and Darlene (George); grandchildren Kyla, Ellie, Malcom, Iain, Danny, Kasey, Shaun, Emma, Teagan, and Nolan; great-grandson Jack. Harold's early life in Selkirk revolved around his family, hockey and the vibrant dockyard of the time in Selkirk. He joined the Air Force as a mechanic and was a formidable boxer, winning a few Air Force championships. He worked in trucking after the Air Force and then became one of those much loved Winnipeg parking commissionaires until his retirement. Harold's new beginning occurred when he reunited with an old flame to rejuvenate his life. Harold loved Shirley very much and he felt lucky to have her in his life. They were married in 1990 and together they enjoyed casino trips, in-law/outlaw events and was a staple at all family functions. He enjoyed great fellowship with his friends at the legion and army/navy and especially enjoyed afternoon crib and bowling nights. He made a great friend with fellow outlaw Stan Lesniuk and Stan never let him down right to the end. Our family wishes to express heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care Harold received from his homecare workers, and the staff at Betel Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with The Ven. Godfrey Mawejje officiating. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
