DEREK CHAMBERS Suddenly at his home on Monday, December 5, 2011, Derek, aged 50 years old, passed away. Derek was predeceased by his mother Joyce and brother Dale. He is survived by his father Albert, sister Sherry (Art), his lovely daughter Jamie (Stephen) and his new grandson Dax whom he was so proud of; also nephews Shane, Leo, Dylan, great-nephew Leo Jr. and great niece Leah; his long time friends were Jeff Hourie, Dolly Atkins and Carol Langlois. He will also be remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins and his many close friends. Derek was born in Selkirk but grew up in the place he loved the most - Grand Marais. Derek worked as a diamond driller across Canada. He also loved to ride horses and playing guitar. Derek loved spending time with his friends and always making you laugh. All of his friends should consider themselves honorary pallbearers. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Derek sadden to hear your gone. I remember growing up with you and my brother Roger Calder. And being at the beach. Partying, you playing your guitar. Going for walks in the morning you introduced to all the locals. But we were really looking for a drink and we found them, every house we went to opened up their door and greeted you with a smile and said come on in my boy. So thank you for giving me one of the best summers 1990-91. Lee Bear and Steven Bear loved it too.
