OLIVE (DOLLY) THORVALDSON (nee GRAY) The family is profoundly saddened by the passing of Dolly on December 6, 2011 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Dolly was born on May 5, 1930 in Selkirk, Manitoba. She is survived by her daughter Linda Kraynick; granddaughter Kimberly (Clay) Pike; great-grandson Riley Pike and sister-in-law Marge Gray. She was predeceased by her mother Marion Gray, brothers Vernon (Irene), Ernie Gray, sister Lenore Prociuk (Walter), Janet Prociuk , Debbie Gray and son-in-law Ron Kraynick. Dolly worked for 35 years at the Manitoba Home for Girls and Seven Oaks Centre for youth. Dolly was a hardworking individual. She was best known for her sense of humour, outgoing personality, honesty, her kind caring ways and for being the party Animal for the seniors. Dolly's life revolved around her family and friends but her eyes lit up when you mentioned her great-grandson Riley. She was a fantastic cook known to all for her great butter tarts. She spent her time knitting, sewing, and playing cards with her friends at Carriage House. The family usually went to the cottage on the weekend where she enjoyed many happy hours playing cards with Linda and Ron. Dolly enjoyed her outings with Millie, Les, Kay and Elsie. The family would like to thank her close friends Mary, Dorothy and Ann for always being there to lend a helping hand. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Medical Intensive care unit at St. Boniface Hospital. They were compassionate and understanding with both Dolly and her family. Our highest praises. A celebration of Dolly's life will be held at Gilbart's Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk Manitoba on Monday December 12 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow and interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Humane Society. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
