Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDRA CLAIRE NORQUAY April 21, 1961 - December 14, 2011 Peacefully and surrounded by her loving family, Alexandra Claire Norquay passed away on December 14, 2011. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Greg Pinniger, children Gavin, Gillian and Mae, parents Margaret and Ian Norquay, siblings Susan, Lawrence, Valerie and Heather, mother-in-law Edna Pinniger, loving brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and devoted pets. She was predeceased in 1994 by her beloved brother John Norquay. Sandra - later, Alex - was born April 21, 1961 in Edmonton and raised in Calgary and Selkirk. Growing up she developed an abiding love for animals, especially horses and dogs, and for nature that carried on throughout her life. She attended the University of Manitoba's School of Nursing and became a registered nurse, working in Colonel Belcher Hospital in Calgary and in emergency at Selkirk General before stopping to raise her family. Over the years she was an avid member of the Bold Strokes Dragon Boat team and an active member of Quarry Ridge Pony Club; she met many friends through those activities. She was also a passionate and creative gardener and cook. Alex and Greg were married in 1992 and shared a love of travel, books and family fun. They packed many wonderful adventures into too few years. The family extends thanks to everyone who offered their support in these last hard weeks. Special thanks to nurse Janet Haley for her compassion and kindness, and to Dr. Dirk Venter, Dr. Marianne Krahn, Trez McCormick, and Dr. Mark Kristjanson and all the healthcare professionals encountered along the way for their competent care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Div., 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Alex/Sandra will always be remembered for her sense of humour, her laughter, her beautiful spirit and her fierce devotion to her children, husband and family. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main Street, Stonewall, Manitoba. Private interment to follow. I wish to offer my sincere condolences to you, Greg and to your family. I enjoyed spending time with Alex which included many long, winter walks through the snow and over to the golf course. It was lovely to watch Gavin grow and change. Margaret, I remember your short visit to Oak Point in Killarney and our talks. May God grant all of you strength and peace.
