WALTER KAMINSKI April 1, 1922 - December 31, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Kaminski on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Gimli Community Health Centre with family by his side at the age of 89 years. Walter was predeceased by his parents, Petronella and Frank; brothers, Joe, Jack, Ralph and Ben (Kaminski); and sister Binnie (Berezowski). He will be lovingly remembered by his dear wife Victoria, of 64 years; daughters, Jane (Ken) of Gimli and Linda of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Audra (Wally) of Calgary; and Derek (Nicole) of Winnipeg; and sisters, Carol Schmerk of Thunder Bay, Anne (Mike) Penziwol of Gimli, Mary (Ed) Wyspianski of Thunder Bay and numerous nieces and nephews. Walter was born and raised in Gimli where he maintained running the family farm and had a wonderful 31 year career with both the Federal and later Provincial Government at Canadian Forces Base Gimli. He enjoyed travelling, woodworking, gardening, helping others and meeting his friends on a weekly basis for coffee, but mostly he loved to spend time and the holidays with his family. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Aljafari and all the staff at the Gimli Community Health Centre for their wonderful care. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating Walter's life will be held at St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m with Father Art Seaman officiating.
