Date of Passing: Jan 04, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN V. SINCLAIR 1925 - 2012 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John V. Sinclair at the Selkirk General Hospital, Wednesday, January 4, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife Elsie in 1965. Left to cherish his memory are his 11 children: William (Beatrice-Anne), Jack Dub , Wilma, Lorraine (Paul), Myrna (Gary), Mae (Orest), Larry (Sheryl), Nadine (Andy), Brian (Tara), Shelly (Paul), Einar (Carolyn); 21 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, along with numerous extended grandchildren. Dad was born in Winnipeg and raised in Selkirk, where he met and married Elsie Bird. Dad worked at the MRM for 32 years which he retired from at the young age of 62. Once that happened, he did a lot of travelling. Dad also spent hours working in his garage making all kinds of gadgets and ornaments out of wood. He also loved gardening and putting in flowers around the yard. Dad loved sports - hockey, football and baseball; we couldn't talk when these were on. He loved shopping and going out for a real good lunch. Once Tim Hortons hit town, that was his spot. Dad was very proud to be a Second World War veteran, he never missed a memorial service, and the Canadian flag was always up in his back yard. In dad's younger days he loved hunting and fishing. He was also a true animal lover especially for the family's puppy dogs. He had a great sense of humour, was generous and very loving, especially for his family. Dad will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts, and loved by all his family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers are Dad's grandsons. The family would like to thank the staff at the Selkirk Betel Home and the Selkirk General Hospital for the excellent care and compassion during Dad's time with them. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB. A private family graveside ceremony will be held following the service. In lieu of flowers, in John's memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer Society.
