JEAN ELIZABETH GRIFFITH (nee WATSON) Peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, with her family by her side, Jean Griffith aged 80 years, of Stonewall, passed away at Rosewood Lodge. Jean was born September 11, 1931 in Arden, Manitoba to Samuel and Mary Jane Watson. She was the youngest of three children, with brother, George, and sister, Irma. As a young girl, Mom had a great love of music and enjoyed playing the piano and singing in the church choir. After graduating from high school, Mom studied and received her teaching certificate. She taught school for one year and then, studied at Success Business College and received her secretarial certificate. She worked for one year as a stenographer. It was during that time that she became engaged to our father, Douglas Griffith. Mom married the love of her life on June 28, 1952. Together they shared 57 years and raised six children on the family farm in Stonewall, MB. Mom was an excellent baker who made the best homemade bread and cookies. All of her grandchildren knew that all it took was a hug to get a delicious treat! She also liked to garden, tending to a large vegetable garden and numerous flower gardens. Mom was always busy with six children to raise. Mom will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her children and their families, Beverly (Rene Patterson), Richard (Pennie), Robyn (Kelly), Timothy (Charlene), Bonnie (Tom Dziedzic); daughter-in-law Rosemary (Kendall Palmer), Kevin Elliot (Wilma), who she considered her fifth son. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Doug, and son, Daniel, brother George and wife Muriel, sister Irma, sisters-in-law, Margaret Milne, Jean Hunter, Bernice Smith; brothers-in-law, Stuart Milne, Peter Hunter, Wib Smith, Lionel Welbourne and Doug Kitson. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Stonewall Hospital and Rosewood Lodge, for the kind care extended to our Mother. In keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held, Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
