EDITH MARION (EDEY) MACKENZIE At her home on Sunday, January 8, 2012, with her husband at her side, Edith Marion (Edey) MacKenzie, aged 80 years passed away. Edey was born August 17, 1931 in Milltown Cross, PEI to Ernest Edgar and Sarah Dolena (Dolly) Molyneaux of Prince Edward Island. Edey is survived by her husband Gerald (Jerry) MacKenzie, son Robert (Bob) MacKenzie, and sister Donna MacLeod of Charlottetown, PEI. In her younger years she loved dancing and down east fiddle music. She married on August 29, 1953 in Moncton, NB. She was a service wife for 20 years and lived in many places, she really enjoyed the four years spent in Germany finally settling in Winnipeg in 1967. Edey and Jerry retired to their cottage in Traverse Bay, MB in 1992 - here she passionately pursued geneology. Her favourite expression was You can take a girl out of the Island but you could not take the Island out of a girl. Her strong religious beliefs sustained her through many illnesses over the years. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 12 at 11:00 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Thalberg, MB. (one mile South and one mile East from corner of Hwy. 12 and Stead Road) with Pastor Mark Koenker officiating. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
