Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE JEANETTE GRACE DOWNS (nee PRENDERGAST) Passed away peacefully on January 12, 2012 at Oakview Place. Jeanette was predeceased by her husband John (Jack) Downs, her father Jean Prendergast, mother Mary (nee Barlow) and stepmother Gertrude, brother Gordon John Prendergast and sister-in-law Elsie (Bergie) and stepchildren Kingsley and Roger Downs. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Howard (Pat) and daughter Claire Lafreniere, stepchildren Barbara and Leslie, grandchildren Celine and Kieron, great-grandson Everett and many other stepgrandchildren, nieces Marni Olson and Kathy Skorianz. Jeanette was raised in St. Vital in the little house by the river, where she had many good memories, of family and friends. Jack and Jeanette shared their home on Baffin with children, family and friends. There were many good meals and fun family times for all. Jeanette was known for her quick wit and sense of humour. She loved to cook and bake, read and listen to music of all kinds as a radio was always on. Jeanette was a loving wife and mother. Her family meant everything to her. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her. We would like to thank the doctors and many staff at Oakview Place, for their care and compassion. I would like to give a very special thank you to Pat for all of the special time the two of you had and all of the little things you have done that are now big things. At Jeanette's request there will be no public service. Cremation has taken place and interment to take place at a later date. good bye grandma, i will miss you very much. and i will always remember sitting around your living room waiting for those wonderful xmas, turky and all the Fine extras that went with them. and your Cookies! mmmmmmm, the best. you know grandma it mentions,in your OBIT. THAT YOU HAD A GREAT SENCE OF HUMOR WELL THAT IS SO TRUE, I'm going to Miss the Way you use to Greet me. with open arms and loving kiss on the cheek & you saying it's nice to see you WELCOME, THEN I WOULD SIT! AND LISTEN TO SUM OF THE STORIES ABOUT THE PAST. I WON'T MENTION THE NAMES, BUT IT WAS ALL GOOD. GOD BE WITH YOU AND WATCH OVER YOU AS YOU WATCHED OVER MY LITTLE ( BOY ). YOU BROUGHT HIM UP TO BE A FINE YOUNG MAN, I WILL SEE YOU SOME DAY HOPEFULLY. AND GET TO SEE ALL THE PEOPLE THAT I LOVE'D, AND RESPECTED AND YOU ARE AT THE TOP OF THE LIST. I'm going to miss you grandma, MA! as i use to call you. never in all nmy life! did i ever have the best home cooked Meals, Way back when you Lived on assiniboine, ave. Kieron was just alittle baby at that time,and when you were cooking on christmas days. you could never sit still, always checking on him always on the move. and as it says in your memoriam that ( laugh ) of yours. only those closest to you would know what i am talking about, thank you GRANDMA !! FOR TAKING Such good care of my son, Kieron......and bringing him up to be the kind and Smart young man he is Today, I love you and I'm sorry for not coming back to see you at seven Oaks, that i now regret. sorry grandma,i t's time to rest now!. so i'll see you again some day!!, Hopefully. going to miss you ( roasts) & your xmas. cookies you would always cook for Me, Way back when.
