Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT EDWARD MONKMAN (BUTCH) Peacefully on January 19, 2012, at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB, with family by his side, Butch Monkman aged 68 years of Lundar, MB, passed away. Butch is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Lynda (Ron) Capner, Randy (Michelle) Monkman, Lorna (Gerald) Law, Ricky (Joyce) Monkman, Robby (Patty) Monkman, Lanna (Darcy) Mason; grandchildren, Loralie (Michel Bourgeois), Jamie (Brittney), Lyndsey (Aaron Forsyth), Darcy, Derek, Deron, Kathy (Mike Nelson), Klint (Theresa), Katelynn (James), Kody, Bryce, Halli, Andrew, Laila; great-grandchildren, Corbyn, Alyvea, Konnor, Parker, and Devlin; as well as his very special friend, Michael Desjarlais; sisters, Elizabeth, Carol (Gerald Sigurdson), Anna (Nick Forte); brothers, Tom (Sharon), Phillip (Margret), Jim, Raymond (Anastasia); brothers-in-law Ernest (Gayle) Benedictson, Bob (Rose) Benedictson, Elwyn (Sharon) Benedictson; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Butch is predeceased by his parents, Jaunita and Edward; his brothers Alec and Alfred and his in-laws Harry and Sveinbjorg Benedictson. Butch started out working for farmers and fishing on Lake Manitoba and Great Slave Lake. He then started power line work, working from Ontario to British Columbia, North West Territories and Illinois. He really enjoyed the North and he was looking forward to one more winter with RS Lines in Alberta. He loved to be able to work with his boys and having three generations on the job. His love of hockey involved him in Bantam and Midget hockey as a coach and he was very proud of his players and their achievements over the years. His knowledge of John Deere Tractors was sought after by many, especially for the Models 30-20's and 40-20's, and older John Deere such as Model M's. He really enjoyed taking part in the tractor pulls and slow races at the Fair. Butch used to race horses in pony chariot races. Butch also loved his farming, haying with the children and grandchildren, and then with his Gramma crew of Judy, Lynda and Lorna. He helped many farmers deliver their calves when problems arose. Above all, his family was most important to him; his children, grandchildren and now his great grandchildren. Saturday night Polka party was a favorite to dance to in the kitchen. He was light on his feet and he and Mom danced beautifully. One of Butch's questions about any event he went to was Can't I wear jeans? So, at the request of the family, please feel free to wear jeans to the service. Everyone in attendance is considered an Honorary Pallbearer. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at the Lundar Legion Hall with Melanie Kauppila officiating. Interment to follow in the Otto Churchyard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Butch's memory to the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital Guild, For the Palliative Care Room, c/o Irene Sigurdson, Box 474 Eriksdale, MB R0C 0W0. The family wishes to thank Dr. Burnet, nurses and staff of the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital and also to the ambulance attendants. It's been almost a year since you left us... but I think of you often. You were a steady support when I was growing up... you were there in place of my dad. I wish I would have spent more of my adult life with you and Aunt Judy. I miss you dearly. Love you always Norma - Posted by: Norma Vint (Benedictson) (Niece) on: Jan 07, 2013

"Oh Popa I miss you more then ever" "I love you" "I well never forget you" I feel so alone at your house when I go to visit. I miss those days and I'm not going to get one of the old days. I miss talking to you, I miss looking at you, I miss your laugh, I miss everything about you and I'm not going to see you alive ever again. I dream so much about you I can't stop thinking about what had happened. It's my worst nightmare. I miss you and love you forever, yours Halli T Monkaman - Posted by: Halli T Monkman (Granddaughter ) on: Feb 13, 2012

My deepest sympathy to Judy and all the family. I knew Butch and Judy when they started dating, they were always such a great couple. Butch used to come for coffee often when we lived just out of Lundar. We had so many laughs, I can still hear that laugh of his. Beautiful write-up, great tribute to a great guy! - Posted by: Janet Donahoe (Paulson, Young) (Friend) on: Jan 30, 2012
