JOHN MICHAEL COOK Peacefully on January 25, 2012 at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home, John Michael Cook, aged 79 years of Ashern, MB, passed away. He is survived by his son Steven (Riane); daughters Joanne and Carole-Anne; grandchildren, Vicki, Bailey, Amanda, Michael, Jarred and Jesse; great-grandchildren Jordyn, Brooklyn, Ashtyn and Hayden; along with other family members and friends. Dad is predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Mary-Anne; his parents Michael and Mary Cook; sister Agnes Roy, and his daughter Linda. Dad was born in Ashern on November 16, 1932 and lived in Ashern his entire life. He farmed with his wife Mary until 1968, moved off the farm and worked at Watchorn Beach for Parks Canada until he retired in the early 1990s. He enjoyed his retirement years spending time playing his guitar and fiddle and jamming with the neighbours and his grandson Michael. He loved to jump on his tractor and work the land. Dad always loved to visit the coffee shop and entertain many with his witty sense of humour which he had kept right through his illness and until his passing. In keeping with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service held. A private family gathering for both Mom and Dad will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale and to the nurses of the Eriksdale Personal Care Home for the wonderful care they showed to our Dad and to our family. Dad would want you to keep smiling.
