JONAS A. KELLY Born and raised in the rural Selkirk area, Jonas passed away at his residence in Selkirk on Saturday, January 28, 2012 in his 78th year. He is survived by wife Linda Quesnel and daughter Catherine Margaret Kelly. Like a lot of young men from Selkirk in the 1950s, Jonas joined the Canadian Army to participate in what became known as KOREA Canada's forgotten War . Serving from 1951 to 1954, he was a member of a field artillery regiment (81 Fd). In action he was a command post technician and military surveyor. Early in 1955, after leaving the military, he joined the Federal Public Service and retired in 1989 after 34 years of service mostly in Manitoba.
