Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHIRLEY JOHNSON It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Lois Johnson on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Shirley passed away at the Grace Hospital after a brief illness. She will be sadly missed by her daughter. Sandy Bourlet of Calgary, AB, and many close friends. Shirley was born in Roblin, MB, on April 26, 1926, and moved to Winnipeg with her parents, Wilfred and Mona Griffin, and her sister, Joan. After completing her education in Winnipeg, she married Stan Johnson. They bought a home in Wildwood Park where they happily lived together for over 50 years, raised their daughter and enjoyed life-long friendships with many neighbours. Shirley was not a stay-at-home mother and worked in various offices before spending over 20 years as the administrative assistant to the Director of the Department of Social Work at the University of Manitoba. She was predeceased by her husband, Stan, in 2004, and her sister, Joan, in 1997. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Jack Bragg of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Betty Johnson of Lethbridge, AB; and numerous nieces and nephews of whom she was very fond. The family would like to thank Dr. R. J. Hayward for all of his care over the years and the doctors and nurses, especially Sandra, at the Intensive Care Unit of Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8. A celebration of life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at the Thomson In the Park Funeral Home at 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R3T 5Y4. Auntie Shirley was a wonderful aunt to us and will be missed terribly, our childhood memories are filled with visits "home" to spend summers with Shirley and Stan. She was dedicated to taking care of her mother, and loved her sister dearly, something we as adults strive to emulate. She will be sorely missed by many, but we take solace in the fact that a long awaited reunion has occurred in the hereafter. We continue to keep our sister Sandy in our hearts and prayers. - Posted by: Linda Bragg Cuthbertson and Nancy Bragg Koppes ( nieces) on: Feb 06, 2012
