BEAUDON (BEN) HALUK August 23, 1931 - February 5, 2012 With his family by his side Ben passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten by his wife and best friend of 56 years, Florence; son Geoff (Darlene), and grandchildren, Derek and Meagan. He was predeceased by his mother Anne, father Nicholas and brothers William and Steve. He began working for the Canadian National Railway in Blue River, BC with his brothers. He was transferred to Winnipeg in the early 1950s where he continued with the railway and where he met his true love. He then worked at Continental Can now Cascade Box Board Inc. for 37 years as a printing plate maker. Ben was a proud member of the Selkirk Fire Department for 25 years and was still active with the retired Firefighters. He was also an honoured member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6150 and 4th degree Mary Queen of the Knights Assembly #1973. Ben enjoyed his winter holidays to Mexico, gambling trips with the Happy Gang and watching his grandchildren grow and play sports. He spent many hours volunteering his time and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. The family would like to thank the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital, Father Dado, family and friends for their kindness and compassion during his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Firefighters Burn Fund or Selkirk District Community Foundation. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 10 at 11:00 a.m. in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima St., Selkirk, MB. with Father Dado Parrenas officiating.
