Her sisters Gudrun (Charlie) Davidson, Vicki (Don) Work, Alda (Roy) Bjarnason-Sandness, Norma (Thor) Thorarinson and brother-in-law Jim O'Brien. Mum was a kind and gentle person who got enjoyment from the simple things in life - a beautiful sunset; a moon-lit winter night; the birds and deer at her feeders; a Sunday drive; and the occasional nip of brandy with Dad after a long day doing fish! Of course the best times were when we were all together. Mum and Dad met at a dance at Husavick Hall in May 1941 when Dad had just returned from England. It was love at first sight. Dad told his friends that he had just met the woman he was going to marry. They met in May, got engaged in August and married in October. Mum worked along side Dad in the fishing business, filleting, wrapping, selling, spreading and seaming-on the nets. She painted with Dad in his commercial painting business, and cleaned and decorated all the cottages that they rented out. She never complained and in fact always looked forward to fishing starting in the Spring so that she could see all their customers again. They both really missed fishing when Dad had to give up his license due to his poor health. Their good friends Vic Savage who helped them with the fishing also helped to brighten their days. Mum and Dad built their house on 17th Avenue in Sandy Hook in 1945 and always took great pride in their home and yard. Mum was a wonderful cook and baker. There was never a supper that didn't include mashed potatoes and a wonderful desert! When Garth and Kristinn arrived Mum and Dad were so delighted. They enjoyed the many weekends and summers spent with Grandma and Grandpa. She loved spending time with them and cooking and baking special treats for them. We were all so blessed to have them. Dad passed away in August 1999 and Mum managed to stay in her home until December 2008, when she moved to Gimli Betel. We are very grateful to the Home Care Girls , Meals On Wheels and Vic and Muriel Savage for all the help. We are also so very thankful to the Staff and Residents of Gimli Betel for making it Home for Mum - she loved you all. We would especially like to thank Mum's dear friend Helen Smerchanski who was so very good to Mum. She was like a sister to Mum, in fact all that and more. We are so grateful for the good care she took of Mum right up until her going into the Hospital. She loved you Helen. Thank you. Thanks also to Dr. R.C. Patel and the nurses and staff at Gimli Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli with Pastor Les Skonnord officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gimli Betel Home, Box 10, Gimli, MB, R0C 1B0. Rest in Peace Sweet Little Mum. We love you. Aunt Inga always made all of us feel so welcome when we came for our visits. I remember the rhurbarb pies, the fish I would only eat at Sandy Hook, it tasted so good. There were so many good times. Inga will always be in our hearts. - Posted by: Pat Ayling (Niece) on: Feb 11, 2012

Inga was a very loving and caring lady. I cherish my memories at Sandy Hook, at their beautiful home. When visiting Winnipeg, I would be eager to go to their house/cottage, I loved the lake and I loved their dinners. She will be missed! - Posted by: Pamela Ayling (Great Niece) on: Feb 11, 2012

Inga was one of the most kind and the most classy ladies I have ever met. She never commplained and was always so strong, even though I know she had so much pain and discomfort. She always was so glad to have a chat and ask what my kids had been up to on the weekend. My Christmas candles from her are still on my china cabinet, I will light them for her next Christmas. When I would see Inga dressed up for a special occasion she looked so very beautiful. I am glad I had the chance to help her and get to know her, I will cherish her memory always. I found this Icelandic/Norse Tribute which I believe is so fitting for this wonderful Aunt Lo, There do I see my Father, and Lo, there do I see my Mother, and Lo, There do I see my Brothers and my Sisters and Lo, There do I see my people back to the beginning, and Lo they do call to me, and bid me take my place among them in the halls of Valhalla, Where the brave will live forever.
