ROSALIE ALBERTINA ASHTON March 12, 1922 - February 7, 2012 With extreme sadness I announce the passing of my wonderful mother, a grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away at home with her daughter Vincentia (Vinny) at her bedside. Mum was predeceased by her husband Ainsley on November 12, 2008. She leaves to mourn, daughters Vinny and Yvonne, granddaughter Marla, grandson Leroy Jr., son-in-law Leroy Sr., sister Althea, adopted son Eddy, and other family and friends. Rosalie was born in St. Vincent, West Indies and immigrated to England in 1955 with Vinny to meet Ainsley. Mum worked in a factory for a while then took her nursing. We immigrated to Canada in 1967. Mum worked as a Health Care Aide for 12 years until she was injured at work and was put on disability. Mum was always busy. She liked to read, knit, crochet and spend time with Vinny, friends and do everything for Vinny. She enjoyed going to Le Rendezvous at Riverview until her strokes in 2009 then went to Day Hospital at Riverview which she also enjoyed. Afterwards she went to the Prime Program at Deer Lodge. Mum would come home and speak of the different activities with much enthusiasm. She would speak of her friend and I knew that it was Joanne. Mike gave her good baths. Dr. Albak was always caring. Mum was more conversant too. After Mum's health declined more she was offered and put on the Palliative Care Program. There are many people I would like to thank for always being there for Mum and me when aid was required. Mary, Marianne and the Palliative Care nurses, the staff of 3E Riverview, the 3E doctors who knew that Mum and I wanted her home and got her stabilized, Jennifer (nurse) and Garth a mover from Riverbend, the Movers who were so helpful in moving Mum from one apartment to the next, Karen Lumley and Lesley Fox - ministers extraordinaire, Heather and Bill from St. Andrews Worship team who came to sing for Mum and to all those who prayed, encouraged, visited and gave food, your help is very appreciated and will never be forgotten. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard with cremation to follow. Viewing will be held one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donate to charity of choice. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
