JEAN STILL It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Still (nee McKenzie), loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. Jean is survived and will be sadly missed by her loving husband Gordon, of 65 years, her children Barry (Karen), Doug (Mary), Kathy (Ernie Monkman) and Susan (Stan Methot); grandchildren Angie, Michelle, Laura, Brittany, Leah, Jim, Jessie, Daniel; great-grandson Bantam; as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jean was born on May 11, 1925 and was the youngest daughter of Hubert Douglas McKenzie and Charlotte Lyons. Jean was the last remaining member of her family. She grew up and went to school in Mapleton where she met Gordon. Although they lived in other places they eventually moved back to Mapleton, a place Mom held dear to her heart. During her working years she had a variety of jobs: working in a bakery, at Fairfield Wool Mills, Bata shoe factory, riveting Hurricane Airplanes at Canada Car and her last job was as a Nurses Aide at Betel Home in Selkirk. Mom was a strong, adventurous and determined person who could do anything she set her mind to. Her family was very important to her and she especially loved all the family gatherings and friends who would drop by. She loved her family and friends dearly and would be there when you needed her. She was a long time member of St. Clements Church. A funeral service and viewing will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 6088 PTH 9A, Selkirk, MB. The viewing will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and the service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be her sons Barry Still and Doug Still, grandchildren Jim Still and Daniel Cadger, nephews Jim McKenzie and Wilfred McRae. Honorary pallbearers will be sons-in-law Ernie Monkman and Stan Methot. The family would like to say thank you to the staff of Tudor House for the special care they gave mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Clements Church, Mapleton. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk is in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
