FERN ROSKY (nee COX) July 23, 1919 - February 8, 2012 Peacefully on February 8, 2012, Fern Rosky passed away at Red River Place Nursing Home, with her family by her side. Fern was predeceased by her husband Alex Rosky, and her son Ray. Fern will be lovingly remembered and missed by her son Allan, her daughters-in-law Debbie Jenkins, and Margaret-Anne Ross, her grandsons Christopher (Rosean), Craig, and Rob Ross, granddaughters Jill Ross, Jennifer, Nikita, and great-granddaughters Samantha, Rebecca, and Victoria Ross as well as great-grandson James Rosky who resides in Brazil. Fern was a loving mother and cherished the time that she spent with her family. Whether it was picking potatoes on the family farm, or going on a vacation to Detroit to visit relatives, or selling potatoes door to door in Winnipeg (when times were tough), or entertaining guests at her home...it didn't matter..... she was happy. Fern was a very accomplished piano player. For several years, she played in an orchestra with her husband Alex at socials, weddings, anniversaries as well as gigs at the Royal Canadian Legion No. 42, and the Army Navy Airforce Veterans Unit 151. Fern was also the organist at Little Britain United Church for many years and enjoyed every minute of it. Fern worked several years at the Selkirk General Hospital as a nurse aide and as a ward clerk. She made many friends at work, and many of those friends loved to visit her at home after work because she was a great friend and in addition, an outstanding hostess. She truly enjoyed their company. She served home cooked food... and provided lots of musical entertainment on the piano as well.... What more could you ask for? Fern was a very hard worker and never complained about it. She spent many hours working on the farm, working at as a health care worker, and still had plenty of time to turn her house into a home. Fern, we will truly miss you. We will never forget you. Special thanks to the Red River Place Nursing Home staff for the compassionate and excellent care provided to Fern on a day to day basis. It was greatly appreciated by our mother and the family. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 16, at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with The Ven. Godfrey Mawejje officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nova House Women's Shelter, Box 337, Selkirk MB R18 2B3. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
