SARASWATHI BAI KRISHNAMURTI June 8, 1925 - February 10, 2012 Saraswathi Bai (Akka) was born in Vellore India, the third child of Kamakshi and SV Krishnamurti. She worked many years as a teacher at the Government Girls' High School in Vellore, and took her students on field trips which they would remember for the rest of their lives. As a devout Hindu, Saraswathi travelled to many religious places in India. She had extensive training in Indian Carnatic music, and held advanced certificates in vocal and theory. Saraswathi came to North America in 1979, staying with her brothers in New Jersey and Winnipeg. She travelled with them widely. She was an avid reader, and had an insatiable curiosity about the world around her she explored caves, swam in the ocean, climbed ladders in construction sites, and generally earned the name intrepid among family members. Closest to her heart, Saraswathi raised two generations of the extended family with the love and warmth of a second mother. Her smile will be remembered by all who met her. After a year fraught with many medical challenges and near-miraculous recoveries, Saraswathi died suddenly on Friday, February 10, 2012, in Winnipeg, Canada. She is survived by brothers Dakshinamurti (Ganga) in Winnipeg and Chandrasekar (Suseela) in New Jersey, and sister Vasanthi (Kalyanam) in India, as well as many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Prayers (Shantipath) will be held at the temple at a later date. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

  • A humble but dynamic hindu teacher who set an example of courage in living life against failing health. I wonder that why god silently took the soul, probably to give MOKSHA, with no rebirth concept of hindu ism. A milestone to lookback in the journey of life. May the soul rest in peace.
