DR. DOMINADOR BALITON NAVARRO SR. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Dominador Baliton Navarro Sr. on February 12, 2012, with his beloved wife Jeanette and loved ones by his side. He was predeceased by his first wife Gloria and children Augusto and Anna Maria. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Jeanette (nee Suarez); children Myrna (Eddie) Bumanlag, Dominador Jr. (Ofelia) Navarro in the Philippines, Priscilla (Orlando) Laureano, Rosemarie (Alan) Diaz in New Jersey, Jerry Navarro, Arthur Navarro in California, Gloria June Navarro, Eduardo (Floser) Navarro, Anna Maria Resurrection (Joel) Manansala in California. Dr. Navarro was born on October 20, 1924, in San Fernando, La Union. He studied at the University of Santo Tomas, one of the most prestigious schools in the Philippines. In 1952 he graduated with a degree in Medicine. Although he was offered a job in the one of the most famous hospitals in Manila, he instead chose to practice in the humble San Jose City in Nueva Ecija. He was available 24/7, regardless of the weather conditions. He was also involved in medical missions, giving free surgical services to children with cleft palates whose parents could not afford to seek medical treatment. He believed that every child should be given a chance to live a normal life. Every Sunday, he donated his time in the town parish with other doctors in giving treatment to those less fortunate, many who would travel far distances for free medical attention. He was well known as a kind physician with a soft heart to all; no patients were left untreated despite their ability to pay. He was a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, where most of his projects were medical missions. He was also elected as the President of the Rotary Club. One of his most prestigious honours was given to him by the late President Corazon Aquino who appointed him as a Councilman of San Jose City. He was a favourite of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. He opened his home to their priests and seminarians and was available to them as friend and father. Despite his very busy profession, he never forgot his commitment to family. After 40 years of practicing medicine, he retired and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1992. He lived a full and happy life until his illness this past December. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. Lamay/Viewing will commence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012, at Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd. A Prayer Vigil will be held on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Mosaic Funeral Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at 12:00 Noon from St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin St., Monsignor Enrique Samson Jr. celebrant. Family and friends are invited back to Mosaic for a time of reception immediately following the Mass. Although he is gone in body, he lives on in spirit and an eternal legacy of kindness, compassion and respect. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital in the ER, Floor 5 Unit 4, and especially the ICU.
