JOYCE B. PIKE (WADDELL), B. PED.
Date of Passing: Feb 10, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCE B. PIKE (WADDELL), B. PED. Joyce passed away peacefully, in the arms of her family, on February 10, 2012, in her 87th year. Fiercely proud of her Murray heritage, Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Christine (Murray) Waddell, and sisters Pat Van Essen and Bunny Malmin. Left with many memories are her children Dennis Pike (Margo), Grace Stevens (Jim) and Dale Pike; grandchildren Kirsty Stevens, Chelsea Pike (Santo), Caleb Pike (Jade), Carmen Goresky, Sean Stevens (Tracy) and Anita Goresky; great-grandchildren Zoe, Jacqueline, Marcus, Griffin, Sebastian and Kapri. Resourceful and independent, Joyce was a woman ahead of her time, who managed life's challenges with bravery and determination. With plenty of love and support from her family, Joyce managed to complete her education, raise her children and enjoy a long career. Through her many years of teaching, Mrs. Pike made countless friends and touched the lives of numerous students and fellow teachers in Northern Manitoba and throughout the Interlake. During the summers and through the early years of her retirement, Joyce returned to the Willow Bay/Deighton Beach area where she created Spruce Grove. Her children, grandchildren, friends and neighbours share many happy memories of good conversations over coffee, great ice cream and burgers, and the occasional hole-in-one and free round of mini golf. Joyce especially loved a good political debate, dancing, playing cards and being at the lake, particularly when that involved a fire on the beach under the stars with family, friends and music. Joyce spent her later years in Moosehorn, where she was welcomed into the community. The family wishes to thank the day care visitors for their kindness over the years. Special thanks also to the staff at Ashern Hospital and to all those who visited Mom, and those who made a special point of waving, during her last few months in hospital. Your kindness helped to brighten her days. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Ashern Gospel Chapel with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow in the Faulkner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her four grandchildren Kirsty Stevens, Sean Stevens, Caleb Pike, Carmen Goresky and family members Jim Nagy and Kevin Devion. Honourary Pallbearers will be her other grandchildren Chelsea Pike and Anita Goresky. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOME Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072 1-866-323-3593

You were often my rock. Many a time your advise, and the fact that I knew I could turn to you made a world of difference in my life. Being that I live in Alberta now, I will not be there to say good-buy in Person, so Ken & Jack will do it for me. I loved the fact that your door was always open ~~Kitty (With Maura, Bob and the boys) - Posted by: Kathleen Sauerbrei (Cousin) on: Feb 17, 2012

I first met Joyce when she clerked at the Macleod's Store in Ashern and she was always so kind and helpful. Then, later when we had a lot at Willow Bay, she ran her little store that our childrew\n loved to visit for their beach icecreams and mini-golf games. Thank you, Joyce! May you be richly rewarded in your heavenly home! - Posted by: Marliene Lutz (Acquaintance) on: Feb 16, 2012
