MARGARET (PEGGY) LOUISE SHADE -
Date of Passing: Feb 16, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET (PEGGY) LOUISE SHADE 1932 - 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret (Peggy) Louise Shade on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at the Selkirk General Hospital, at the age of 80. She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 53 years, Alan; children, John (Marlene), Mary (Arthur), Everett, Margaret, and Theresa; grandchildren, Monica, Alan Mieka, Angela, Michelle, Terry, Sylina, Andrew and Jessica; and extended family and friends. She will also be deeply missed by family pets, especially Patsy and Leo. She was predeceased by her parents, John (Everette) and Marion Chevraux. Peggy was born on January 27, 1932, in Killam, Alberta, where she grew up on the family farm. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education degree, and taught at the Catholic School in Killam. In 1957, she moved to R.C.A.F. Base Cold Lake, Alberta where she met Alan and later married in June, 1958. While raising their family they lived in Ontario, Ohio, Tennessee and Manitoba. Peggy was a talented and creative craftsperson who enjoyed all forms of fibre arts. Her passion for crafts, especially knitting and spinning, led to her ownership of The Good Wool Shop which she ran for 30 years, along with her daughters, until her retirement in 2006. Throughout her life a deep rooted conviction to helping others connected her to numerous groups and individuals whom she would knit for, or provide support to, in countless ways. Mom fought hard during her illness, even continuing to knit for her charities while in hospital. We would like to thank the staff of H.S.C. and Selkirk General Hospital for their care and compassion. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 21 at 11:00 a.m in the St. Margaret's R.C. Church, 105 Little Britain Rd., Lockport. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Peggy's memory to Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen (Selkirk) or the Ladybug Foundation. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Alan, Margaret and Family, Dad and I want you to know how much we admired Peggy. I remember when my Mum Peggy died and your Peggy presented Dad with, I believe, the first prayer shawl ever given at St. Margaret's. It was a special moment that I will never forget. It meant so much to Dad and me and brought Dad a lot of comfort. It was always a pleasure to see Peggy. I will always remember her beautiful smile.
