JAMES (JIM) WILLARD BLACK January 12, 1930 February 16, 2012 It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of James (Jim) Willard Black of Tyndall, MB, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather at the age of 82 on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at the Selkirk General Hospital. Dad died peacefully with his family by his side. Left to forever cherish his memory is his beloved wife Dorothy (nee Pruden) of 64 years. He leaves his sons Rod (Diane), Glen (Lynne), Perry (Ricka), Jeff (Kate), and his daughters Sharon Morgoch (Johnny), and Brenda Dash (Marley); grandchildren Alison, Trevor, Shannon, Tanya, Ryan, Shaun, Chad, Stephen, James, Chloe, Lauryn, Rebecca and great- grandchildren Katlyn, Tachie, Shayna, and Devyn, and his only surviving sister Donna Kitchen. Dad was predeceased by his son Guy (Veronica) and his granddaughter Candace Morgoch. Dad was born January 12, 1930 in Winnipeg, MB. He married Dorothy, the love of his life, on Friday, March 13, 1948 at the Christ Church in Selkirk and thereafter had their family of seven children. Early in their marriage dad had a dairy farm in Clandeboye, but took on many jobs along the way to make sure his family was provided for. He worked at the steel mill in Selkirk, the Selkirk bakery, he was a milkman and drove a school bus. For 35 years he was a professional truck driver with Imperial Oil garnering many trophies and awards for his impeccable safe driving. He then took on an Esso agency in Neepawa where he grew a successful business that enabled him to meet many dear friends and colleagues. He then retired to Garson and Tyndall. Dad was kind, selfless, and hard working, with ethics and morals above reproach. His family always came first and he never compromised. He enjoyed everyone around him whether it was the teller at the bank or the clerk at the grocery store. He loved to kibitz and tease his grandchildren and everyone he came in contact with. He loved camping with his family, vacationing in Hawaii and travelling across Canada to visit extended family and friends. Dad was the mayor of Garson for a number of years which further enabled him to meet his social need to always be engaging with and helping others. He was well respected in the community and loved by all that knew him. He was a fine man, a loving father and husband, a true friend, and will be missed by many. The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff and paramedics at the Selkirk General Hospital. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St. Selkirk, MB. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Uncle Jim. I feel so bad that I never got around to having a visit with you and Auntie Dorothy. I have so many fond memories of you, your great smile, and smiling eyes being a few of them. One of the things I also remember is my dad always worrying that you might show up for a visit some day before he was out of bed. I don't know why. I wished I would have asked, but I assume it was a joke that you shared with him. We played an April fools joke on him by telling him you were there one morning. The look on his face was priceless. I take comfort in knowing that you will be welcomed with open arms from all the family and friends that went before you. - Posted by: Linda Peterson () on: Feb 21, 2012
