VIOLET MAY PELLAND (née SANGSTER) Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Violet Pelland passed away at Taché Centre on February 24, 2012, at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her husband Gérard, her parents Ross and Ada Sangster, her brother Ross, her sister Lilian D'Aoust and her grandson Ronald Pelland. She will be sorely missed by her children Patricia (Roger) Turenne, Denis (Kathleen), Annette (Marcel) Nadon, Richard (Sandy), Margot McLeod, Gail (Dale) Kantor and Guy (Denise), 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law Raymonde Sym and Olive Pelland. Vi was born in Makinak, MB, on April 21, 1919. Though she was always a country girl at heart, she came to Winnipeg to go to business college. She met Gerry and they married in 1942. Having lived in Toronto and Regina, after the war they moved back to Winnipeg where they raised their family. Mom will always be remembered fondly by everyone who knew her for her sense of fair play, her fiercely independent spirit and her keen wit that remained with her to the end. She loved travelling, knitting, reading, doing crossword puzzles, bargain hunting at Eaton's Mail Order and later Value Village. Though you couldn't find a more loyal Blue Jays fan, her true passion was gardening and tending plants. There was not a houseplant in existence that didn't need pruning. She especially enjoyed her last years at Taché for the Bingos, trivia quizzes and nail painting. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her Brood. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Unit 4DE at Taché Centre for their loving care and dedication that made her last years so pleasant. Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons Street. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date in the St. Boniface Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca. • My condolences to the family. I will always remember your mother for her beautiful smile and her happy disposition. I remember when you would be doing dishes with your mother and all of a sudden there would be a soap or towel fight. She was fun to be around. Violet was a beautiful lady. - Posted by: Suzanne Conrad (friend) on: Feb 29, 2012
