KRISTINN (KRIS) THORKELSON Peacefully, on March 5, 2012, after an extraordinary life of 95 years, Kristinn Thorkelson passed on with his loving daughter Sherry and grandchildren, Ryan and Lynnea by his side. The oldest child of Gudjon and Herdis Thorkelson, he was born August 3, 1916 on the farm at Deerhorn, MB. Together Kris and his beloved wife Alice farmed for 40 years in the Swan Creek District. They retired together in 1987 to Lundar, MB where Kris quickly became an active member of the community. Kris loved connecting with friends, often spending hours having a good chat. In his spare time Kris enjoyed doing woodworking, tinkering and gardening. Kris had a strong connection to his Icelandic roots, an unwavering devotion to his family, and the biggest heart a man could have. Predeceased by his wife Alice Watson, brother Gudni Thorkelson and two sisters Lillian Goudie and Sylvia Jonasson. Kris leaves to mourn his daughter Sherry Thorkelson and grandchildren, Ryan (Lori) and Lynnea (Ken), a sister-in-law Norma Thorkelson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Lundar Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. There will be a reception at the Lundar Legion Hall following the service. Pallbearers will be Fred Brandson, Ted Watson, Einar Sigurdson, Grant Thorkelson, Ken Jonasson and Ryan Thorkelson. A special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Lundar Personal Care Home and Eriksdale Hospital for their dedicated care.
