RACHEL GERTRUDE SABOURIN Peacefully with dignity and courage, at the age of 97, Rachel Gertrude Sabourin (née Audet) passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her cherished husband Georges, her parents, Fortunat and Marie (née Boutin), her brothers and sisters Arthur, Rodolphe, Jeanne D'Arc, Marcel, Edith, Cécile and Alec. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughters, Jocelyne (Jim Cooper) of Eriksdale, Andrée (Gérald Paquin) of St. Boniface, Odette (Bruce North) of St. Norbert and Charlotte of Chambly, P.Q. She will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren: Rob and Steven Cooper, Marie-Josée, Isabelle, Catherine and Julie Paquin, Luc, Sébastien and Guy North, Mathieu and Julien Roy and great- grandchildren. Rachel also leaves to grieve her departure her brother Robert, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces and very dear friends. Rachel was born February 21, 1915 in Frampton, P.Q. She received her nursing education in Quebec. She married Dr. Georges Sabourin on October 22, 1947 on Anticosti Island. After a few years in St. Honoré de Schenley, P.Q., Georges, Rachel and their four daughters relocated to Manitoba, at first in St.Pierre-Jolys and then St. Boniface. Lifelong friendships, Rita, Thérèse, Armand and Simone, were forged in St. Pierre-Jolys and in St. Boniface. Rachel was truly a devoted and generous spouse, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her profound faith inspired her daily life. One of her greatest joys was being surrounded by her family. She was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. We will always remember her vibrant personality, her extraordinary culinary talents, her courage, her smile and her determination. She was an elegant hostess who welcomed all her visitors with open arms. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ball, the first responders, nurse Lea of St. Boniface Hospital, the personnel and residents at Villa Aulneau for their kindness and compassion and the Home Care personnel. Special appreciation to Rita for always being there for Rachel. She will forever be in our hearts. Dors bien maman. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Précieux-Sang Church, 200 Kenny Street. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Rachel's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO. Bon repos matante! - Posted by: Dennis Connelly pour la famille Denise/Bob Connelly (Nièces, neveux, belle soeur / Nieces, nephews, sister-in-law) on: Mar 15, 2012
