Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROLAND COUTU Roland passed away peacefully in the early hours of March 2, 2012. He was predeceased by his father in 1972 and his mother in 1983. Left to mourn are his many friends and care givers at Selkirk Mental Health Centre. Roland was born November 8, 1942 in Regina, SK but spent his early years in St. Laurent, MB. He moved to Toronto as a young child and remained there until 1985 when he moved to Winnipeg to be closer to his extended family. Roland often spoke of his working days and the jobs he held. He also spoke of Toronto and the activities he had done there as a child. Roland holds a very special place in the hearts of those who knew him. He was a simple man who enjoyed simple pleasures. A handshake upon greeting, a Pepsi and a good baseball game always brought out a smile. As his health declined these simple things became more important to him and he could often be seen, Pepsi in hand, smiling and calling to those who passed by him. A memorial service in Roland's memory will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at the Tyndall Building at Selkirk Mental Health Centre. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.
