DANTE SPERANZA December 19, 1923 - March 12, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend on March 12, 2012 at the age of 88 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Dante was predeceased by his wife, Maria Speranza (nee Silvari) his parents Giacinta Olivieri and Luigi Speranza, his brothers Vincenzo and sisters Linda, Eva and Esterina of Italy. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Gina and husband Pasquale Carnevale, Anita and husband Antonio Romolo; his son Roberto Speranza and wife Estrela; grandchildren, Luisa and Sabrina Carnevale, Pina and husband David Edwards, Felice and Dante Romolo, Michael and Selina Speranza and great-grandson, Giuliano. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sisters Aurelia, brothers, Oreste, Adamo and Sandro their families and many other extended family members and friends. Dante was born in Sambuceto, Italy. He came to Winnipeg in 1951 where he met his wife, Maria and raised three children. After working many years at Crescent Creamery, he led a fulfilling retired life. Dante loved his summers at the cabin in Grand Beach spending countless hours swimming or taking his grandchildren out for ice cream. He also enjoyed vacationing in Florida and Mexico with his wife. Wine making was his passion as was cultivating his garden and manicuring his lawn. He was devoted to his family, enjoying Sunday evenings together serving up something from the hall liquor cabinet. His loving spirit, contagious smile and cheek pinching will be missed by all. The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff of Unit 4 on the 5th floor at Seven Oaks Hospital. Viewing will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. Entombment will take place immediately thereafter at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. Pallbearers will be Dante's grandchildren and son. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dante's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.
