Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVA DISBROWE (nee COMBER) Peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at the age of 92, at the Betel Home in Selkirk, MB Eva left us to be with the Lord. She was predeceased by her parents William and Daisy Comber; brothers Angus and Joe Comber; son Keith Disbrowe; daughter-in-law Freda Disbrowe, and grandson Keith Bowers. Left to mourn her passing are her son George Disbrowe of Selkirk; daughter Rosa (Bill) Bowers of Calgary; grandchildren, Pam (Jerry) Baerr, George (Kerry) Disbrowe, Cheryl Disbrowe, Chuck (Maizelle) Disbrowe, and Ryan Disbrowe; great-grandchildren Chelsea, Jeramy, Isabel, Lucas and Romeo; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Eva was born on December 8, 1919 in Selkirk, MB. She lived most of her life in Berens River, MB where her three children were raised. In 1965 she moved to St. Boniface in Winnipeg where she went back to school and became a nurse's aide. Eva worked at Tache Nursing Home for 25 years. She loved her work and made many friends during her time at Tache. In 1987 Eva moved to Selkirk where she bought her first and lifelong home across the street from her son George. Upon her retirement in 1992 Eva did some travelling and spent countless hours tending to her garden. Eva loved to knit and crochet and could make anything you would ask for. There is not a single grandchild or great-grandchild who doesn't have a sweater or socks or mittens made by grandma. Eva loved life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with her family. Eva's last year was spent at the Betel Home in Selkirk where she enjoyed all her visitors and new friends. Grandma had strong faith and was often seen walking to church on Sunday mornings. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff and nurses at Betel Home for their loving care. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 16 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St. in Selkirk with interment and luncheon to follow.
