Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Worked with Barry at the Thompson airport in the early 70's. Barry and Lynne lived in the apartment just above ours and recall our ocasional "dueling stero's". We had a lot of fun together in those Thompson years! - Posted by: Frank & Diana VanderZande (Work mates and neighbours in Thompson Manitoba) on: Mar 18, 2012

  • Barrie and Lynne showed up in Brochet spring of 1969. The powers to be decided that Brochet Aeradio/Met station would go to synos only, and only needed two to do this and the radio was on request only. Of course the married couple were expected to live in the "barracks". So I went on a cleaning and painting up rampage as I was afraid of the wife not liking the accomodations, experiencing that in Churchill. When they flew in on a Norseman, ice was startng to get little thin, they arrived with a big St. Bernard dog. I took them to my house as I wanted the aircraft to leave before they saw the accommodations. That's when Barrie put a 40 oz of whiskey on the table, saying "Horning said if I was to get along with the OIC, this would help". We drank it down and were very good friends ever since. Lynne said the accomodations was ok, good old farm kids, not looking for 5 star. Barrie was one of the good guys, Shelley and I will miss him, Old slow walking, slow talking Barrie. - Posted by: Tom Gibson and Shelley Jensen (Work mates and friends.) on: Mar 16, 2012
