SUSAN G. MCGEE It is with a profound sense of loss and heavy hearts that our family announces Susan's death after a long, arduous, valiant struggle with the devastating after effects of radiation therapy on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the age of 69 years. Susan will be lovingly remembered by the one she loved most dearly, her daughter, Liz (Kent) and her beautiful grandchildren Samuel and Sophia. Also left to cherish her loving soul are her twin sister, Sybil (Ted) her sister, Janet (Bill) and her brother, Fred (Joyce) as well as their families of whom she impacted greatly and will forever have a lasting effect. She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Christine McGee, one of the first residents of Wildwood Park moving into E Section in the spring of 1947. It was a time of happiness and a time that we as a family, growing up there, will never forget and always remember with much affection. Susan was a superb athlete in High School: track events, volleyball, basketball and softball usually making the first string. She also had a very artistic side to her. Along with sketching and painting she loved using flora from her gardens to make framed pictures as gifts for people. She was an avid reader and could discuss almost any topic with a passionate intelligence. Susan worked for more than 27 years at the Royal Bank, concluding as Manager of Foreign Exchange at the downtown branch in the Grain Exchange Building. In the early nineties Susan and Liz lived in Thompson during which time she worked for the Women's Crisis Centre. She did volunteer work for many years with the mentally disabled. Her nature was one of a true sense of charity and generosity. She lived her life with integrity, grace, dignity and kindness; we will miss her dearly. Susan gave to a number of charities over her lifetime and children charities in third world countries were a particular favourite. If desired, please make a gift in her name to a charity that is close to you, she would like that. I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again. While, we may have had some issues with the medical system as a whole over the years, there were some exceptional people. For those special people we are thankful that they blessed her life and ours (you know who you are). We cannot thank you enough and are forever grateful for your tender and loving care of Susan. Our family would also like to express our gratitude to Dr. Robert Lotocki for his compassion and dedication during his tenure as Susan's primary physician. She thought the world of him, as did we. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating Susan's life will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street with Reverend Tim Sale officiating the service.
