Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY FLISS (nee DOWHANIUK) On March 24, 2012, Mary Fliss, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away at St. Norbert Personal Care Home. Mary was born February 18, 1915, in St. Martin, Manitoba, to Fred and Domka Dowhaniuk. She spent 30 years as a beauty consultant at The Bay in Winnipeg where she excelled at promoting Estée Lauder, Lancôme and Clinique products. Mary was a private woman with impeccable taste, who had incredible strength and was fiercely independent. She enjoyed shopping, playing cribbage, vegetable gardening, and travelling to visit with family in Ontario and Florida. Mary is survived by beloved son, Gordon, of Ottawa; her sisters, Helen Norek of Winnipeg and Irene Kalina of Kamloops; four grandchildren and their spouses, Kerry (Patrick), Catherine (Darryl), Brian (Tanya), and Robert (Susana); and four great-grandchildren, Brett, Emily, Tyler, and Gabriel. She also leaves behind caring daughter-in-law, Margaret Fliss, and many dedicated friends including Marlene McCulloch, Claire Briere, and Thomas and Cynthia Suffield. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Michael in 1994, her dear son, Ronald in 2011, and seven brothers and sisters including Vera Olender, Ollie Kozak, Anne Matthews, Alec Dowhaniuk, Ted Dowhaniuk, Elsie Kozak, and Nick Dowhaniuk. A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 30 in the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street. Reception will follow. Interment will be at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
