Date of Passing: Mar 16, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN SNOWDON (nee HOLMES) Peacefully, with her family at her side, Jean Snowdon passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012 at the age of 86. Jean was predeceased by her husband Tom, father Ernest and mother Alice, sisters May, Doreen, and Eileen, and daughter-in-law, Trudy. She leaves to mourn her son Gary, her grandchildren Kristine (Sean), Richard (Mani, daughters Drew and Mikayla), and Dale (Dawn, son Cole and a future great-grandchild.) Jean was born and raised in England. It is there that she met her husband Tom at the end of the Second World War. They married and soon welcomed their only child, Gary. Courageously, Jean left England and the only life she knew, so that she could start a new life of her own. She travelled across the seas with their son, to Winnipeg where her one true love Tom was waiting for her. After many successful years in Winnipeg, Jean and Tom retired to Kelowna. It is there that Jean could really showcase her passion for gardening. Her flowers were her pride and joy. Many people passing by would often stop to admire her work. They would compliment her on their beauty, take photos, and at times even ask for cuttings to take for themselves. Jean loved to bake, sew her own clothes and do crafts. She kept a beautiful home and loved to entertain family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and took pride in everything she served at the dinner table. She also loved to travel and over the years they visited many exotic places. She was an outgoing, friendly and compassionate person and was always there to lend a helping hand. We would like to thank the staff at Brandt's Creek Mews, the care home in Kelowna for making her last years enjoyable. The staff were truly amazing and were like family to her. Jean was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was a joy to be around. She made friends wherever she went and will be remembered by many. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jean's memory to The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Manitoba Division, 100 - 1465 Buffalo Place, Winnipeg, MB R3T 1L8.
