OLGA ANDERSON (nee BAZYLEWSKI) February 27, 1924 - March 1, 2012 Predeceased by her husband Thor, she is survived by daughters Beverley, Claudia (Ken), Thorey (Ken), beloved grandchildren Jessica, TJ, Emma, Kenneth, sister Beatrice, sister-in-law Artha, and numerous nieces and nephews. Olga was born in Bield, MB and spent her childhood there. She was the sixth of eight children of Mary and John Bazylewski. In 1940 her widowed mother married Harry Lysiachuk and moved with the three youngest children to Poplar Park. Olga worked on the farm and then with her good friend Stephanie ventured into Winnipeg. They worked at various jobs including housekeeping, the assembly line at Paulin Chambers, and loading trucks at the Cordite Plant. In Poplar Park she met Thor (Hallie). After a whirlwind courtship they married in 1945. They spent the first of their 52 years together in Winnipeg but soon moved back to Poplar Park and built their home. In 1955 flooding of Lake Winnipeg forced them to move to Libau where they spent the rest of their lives. A small farm, a large garden, and three children kept Olga busy from dawn to dusk and beyond yet she always had a spotlessly clean house and no one ever left it without a meal or tea with homemade cakes or cookies. Her hands were never idle. The fish mitts, socks and sweaters that were a necessity in early years gave way in retirement to quilts, afghans and her famous crocheted grocery bag mats. At age 65 she finally became a grandma. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and gave her some of the happiest days of her life. It was her wish to be cremated and have her ashes interred at St. James Church, Poplar Park with no service. Donations in Olga's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to the charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
