MARGARET ANN MACKENZIE February 5, 1917- April 3, 2012 Peacefully on April 3, 2012 Margaret Ann MacKenzie passed away at the age of 95 years. The daughter of Alice and Colin Y. MacKenzie was born in Boissevein, Manitoba on February 5, 1917. She attended the Boissevein schools and received her B.A at Brandon College (McMaster University) in 1938. She obtained her B.L.S at the University of Toronto Library School in 1939. Her earliest professional experience was in the Department of Education and the Winnipeg Public Library. From 1942 to 1948, she was employed at the University of Manitoba, first in the Junior Library on Broadway and later in the Main Library on the Fort Garry campus. From 1948 to 1952, she was on the staff of the University of British Columbia Library in Vancouver. In 1953 she returned to the University of Manitoba to become Reference Librarian and subsequently Archivist and Rare Books Librarian. She retired in 1977. She was a long time member of the Manitoba and Canadian Library Associations, also of the Manitoba Historical Society and the Manitoba Naturalists Society.
