Mike hired me in 1971 as a fire ranger in Whitemouth. It's true what Jack Kowalchuk said Mike was a very good individual to be with and around, both on and off the job. Many enjoyable times spent with Mike. Our condolences and prayers to Mike's families. - Posted by: Harry Pluchinski (former co-worker) on: Apr 18, 2012

Mike was a conservation officer in my home town of Cowan, Manitoba. I believe it was his first assignment. Cowan is a very small town so he quickly became friends with everyone. My Father owned the grocery store there so Mike spent a lot of time at our place. We became very good friends. I had not seen him since he visited me in Winnipeg in 1962, I believe it was. I have the fondest of memories of him. I send my deepest condolences to Mike's family. May your good memories help get you through this sorrowful time. - Posted by: Orysia "Ricki" Daly (nee Kolisnyk) (Aquaintance from the late 50's/early 60's) on: Apr 18, 2012

In the early dry spring of 1969, I was hired on as a Fire Ranger for the Whitemouth district. Mike encouraged me to go to forestry school and I did. He continued to follow my career while employed as a Natural Resource Officer (Conservation officer) until my retirement in 2010. He was a big brother during my working career. He had a genuine gift of working with people. He knew how to get the best out of everyone. He was neither selfish nor demanding. He always put aside the time in his busy schedule to assist and support younger officers. We shared adventures in the Agassiz and Sandilands Provincial Forests. He was given the task of implementing the wild rice program and he did an excellent job. I am very sad of his passing but he has thought me values and skills which I still treasure and which still helps me in my work. He will not be forgotten by many. Rest in peace Mike. - Posted by: Jack Kowalchhuk (Friend) on: Apr 17, 2012
