AUDREY IZOLA BERENS October 12, 1953 - April 15, 2012 After a lengthy battle with cancer, with her brothers Norman and Richard and her best friend Leonard by her side, the Lord has called Audrey home at the age of 58. Audrey leaves to mourn her precious memory, her daughters Glenda Berens (Sterling Macintyre) and Kristyn Berens (Leslie Sumner); seven grandchildren who were very precious to her, Berlene, Richard, Tornato, Rodrick, Hansen, Titanice, and Nakitah; one great-grandson Destry; sisters Christine Redin (Jurgen), Verna Boulanger, Elaine Everett (Walter); her brothers Roderick Nanacowap, Norman Berens, Richard Berens and Conrad Bittern; her special nephews Lorne McKay, Adrian Everett, Glen Boulanger and numerous other nephews along with her special niece Debra McKay, and numerous other nieces and great-nieces and nephews with mention to Jericho Berens who held a special place in her heart. In her final days, she requested the presence of her Uncle Charlie Bittern and his prayers over Wake Services, along with singing by Glen Boulanger. Audrey was predeceased by her grandmother Mary Nanacowap, grandfather Jacob Nanacowap; her parents Joseph Jacob Berens on December 23, 1984 and Nora Janet Berens on April 14, 1993; her brothers infant Elmer, Edward and Daniel, and her sisters Eliza and Caroline. Special thanks to the staff at Dryden Hospital for their care and compassion during this difficult time. Much thanks also to her special friend and family support Leonard Smith who was always there for Audrey. Wake services were held in Dryden on Monday, April 16, 2012 and on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at the Bread of Life Ministry in Winnipeg, MB. Wake services will continue on Wednesday and Thursday, April 18 and 19 at the Berens River United Church with her Uncle Charlie Bittern officiating.
