PATRICIA BEVERLEY SNOW (COOPER)
Date of Passing: Apr 22, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA BEVERLEY SNOW (nee COOPER) March 27, 1954 - April 22, 2012 It is with deep sadness that the family mourns the loss of Beverley, the precious younger sister of the family, to cancer. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2012 with loving husband Mark, who watched over her constantly these past few months, close by her side. All is peaceful now as Bev begins her safe journey home, a brightly burning candle illuminating her way. She leaves to mourn her passing, Mark, husband and constant companion of nine years, brothers Brian (Ila), Barry (Linda), sister Barbara, and nephews Dean Cooper, Paul Cooper, Jason Carriere, John Welwood, niece Sabrina Carriere, as well as Bev's faithful dog Jessie. Beverley was predeceased by parents Ed (2000) and Doris Cooper (2003). Bev grew up in River Heights in Winnipeg, graduated from Grant Park High School, achieving her business administration degree at Red River College. She settled into a busy career at IBM, advancing from Winnipeg to Toronto, where she became attracted to fellow employee, Mark, as well as taking time to learn to play the bagpipes with a local pipe band and sailing their boat Amethyst on Lake Simcoe. Soon thereafter Bev retired and Mark was transferred to the Saint John, New Brunswick IBM office. There, they spent their precious leisure time outfitting and sailing the Amethyst along the Saint John River and, once again, Beverley became a piper in a Saint John pipe band and further honed her musical talent. Bev was also a 32 year member of the Canadian Royal Legion. The nostalgic call of home beckoned to Bev so, in 2007 she and Mark mounted their boat on a flat deck trailer heading west and took up residence in Stonewall, MB. By now Bev had taken up on-line day trading, and found quilting with friends and home gardening most enjoyable and challenging. Together, they renovated their Gimli lakeside summer home, took up winter ice fishing and snowmobiling and launched Amethyst into the fresh waters of southern Lake Winnipeg. Throughout her adult life Beverley could often be seen at auction houses acquiring old and colourful treasured glass pieces, patiently crocheting delicate keepsakes, or diligently working on small craft pieces. Deepest gratitude and thanks is extended to the patient and understanding Dr. Wong, and the accommodating and friendly staff of the Gimli Community Health Centre. At Beverley's request, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held. A memorial for family and close friends will take place at the Gimli cottage on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
