GIL TALAVERA MATRIANO September 1, 1948 - April 23, 2012 Quietly on April 23rd at St. Boniface Hospital Gil Matriano left to be with our Heavenly Father. Survived by his loving wife Naty and son Matt, Gil also leaves behind his brothers Larry and Nick, along with a number of his nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. He goes on to join his own parents Marciano and Mercedes, and elder sister Louisa in heavenly slumber. Born September 1, 1948 from the Quezon province of the Philippines, Gil was the third born child of Marciano Matriano and Mercedes Talavera. Born before him were Louisa and Larry, and Nick born afterwards. After meeting his future-wife Naty Balicao in 1979, the two were joined in Holy Matrimony on June 20, 1981. He would later immigrate to Canada in August of 1982 to start a new life with his wife. Several years after settling down in Canada, he would soon start a 12 year career at City Bread Co. where he would make many friends while providing for his wife and new born son. Eventually he would begin a new career at Palliser Furniture, making new friends and earning the respect of his co-workers for being a dependable and hard-working employee. Gil Matriano was a man of many facets. A just man of faith, who accepted all and befriended many. Stern, yet compassionate. He strived to do his best and do things honestly. Though he is gone, the impact that his life has made on others will never be forgotten. He was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a friend; and he will be greatly missed. Prayers/Lamay will be held on Thursday, May 3 and Friday, May 4, 2012 commencing at 6:00 p.m. at Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Ave, Reverend Monsignor Ward Jamieson celebrant. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Reception to follow at Mosaic Reception Centre.
