Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUSSELL MARKWART On April 28, 2012 Russ passed away suddenly after a brave battle with cancer. Russ was 58 years of age. He was predeceased by his father, Herbert Markwart and his daughter, Jade Vinet. He is survived by his mother, Doris Markwart of Selkirk; sister June Markwart (Susan) of Edmonton; brother Roy Markwart (Elaine) of East Selkirk; grandchildren Ashton and Ella Vinet of Winnipeg; nieces Sarah (Kyle) Markwart of East Selkirk and Rebekca (Ed) Taylor of Winnipeg, and nephew Adam Markwart of East Selkirk. In 1972, Russ moved to Selkirk, Manitoba. He worked for over 35 years in restoration and maintenance at Lower Fort Garry. He was a perfectionist and excelled at his craftsmanship. It was an accomplishment we were all proud of. Russ was always popular, people liked him for his sense of humour, intelligence and generosity. He was the kind of guy who never said anything bad about anyone. At the family's request there will be no public funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lower Fort Garry Volunteer Association, c/o Lower Fort Garry, 5925 Highway 9, St. Andrews, Manitoba, R1A 4A8.
