Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDER (AL) GRAHAM Alexander Graham (Al) died tragically at the age of 81, on Saturday, May 5, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife Ila (nee Robertson), his parents and his brother Neil. Left to cherish his memory are sisters, Helen and Mary, his daughters, June (Peter) Harper, Helen Davidson, Margaret (Nick) Hossack, his grandchildren, Vicki, Alissa, Angus, Fiona and Jesse, his great-granddaughter Kayla, common-law wife Iris Saunby, and stepchildren Debbie (Raymond) Tara, Penny Flarow, Rodney Crosbie, and John T. (Tammy) Saunby. Al was born in Scotland in 1930 and came to Canada in 1951 to join the Hudson's Bay Co. in Berens River, Manitoba where he met his wife Ila and raised their three daughters. Al made a living as a commercial fisherman until they eventually started their own businesses becoming successful entrepreneurs managing their own general stores in Berens River and Cardale, Manitoba. Al became a pilot to have easier access to his business interests in the remote north. In 1968 they moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where Al took a job with Natural Resources and was transferred to Hnausa leading them to settle in Gimli in 1970. He was an avid outdoorsmen who loved to fish, camp, canoe, skidoo, and he would spend hours just taking in the beauty of nature, especially wildlife and birds. Al was a loving family man who attracted many friends with his gentle and kind spirit. He will be deeply missed. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 at Gilbart Funeral Home, 1st Avenue, Gimli, MB, with a viewing beginning at 12:00 p.m. The family will also be hosting a reception at Gimli New Horizons Club on 3rd Avenue following the burial.
