Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER OGONOSKI 1920 - 2012 It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Walter Ogonoski on May 8, 2012, at the age of 91. Walter spent many years battling numerous health issues and is finally at peace. Walter was predeceased by his brother Frank, and sisters Caroline and Sally. He was so dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Ella (Valenta), children Albert and Linda (Don) Warren, grandchildren Angela (Warren) Miller, Scott Ogonoski (Jen), Wesley Warren, and Matthew Ogonoski, and his precious great-grandchild Cameron Miller. Walter was born and raised in the small farming community of Walkleyburg, Manitoba. He met and married Ella (Valenta) in 1950. He and Ella stayed on the farm till 1965, moving to the village of East Selkirk where they lived till 2000. In 2000 they moved to their home in Selkirk. Walter's early years were spent farming and in 1955 he went to work for the Manitoba Rolling Mills. He retired from the Mill, after 27 years of service, in 1982. Walter enjoyed traveling and traveled as much as he could while his health lasted. Walter was a very gregarious person, attending any social event he could squeeze into his schedule. He always made room in his life for socializing with his large group of friends. And if the social event involved dancing, he could not wait to take his wife out on the dance floor. In retirement he took up fishing and golf, and took every opportunity to participate in these two new activities. Walter loved playing cards. Card parties were a regular occurrence in his life and even in his last days with us he still wanted to play cards. Walter worked hard all of his life and was very devoted to providing the best he could for his family. He would never complain, just accept things as they were, and move forward. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the many acts of kindness and love from relatives and friends during this time. The family would also like to give special thanks to the Red River Care Home staff for their care and compassion over the last year and a half. Cremation has taken place. A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Notre Dame Catholic Church, 269 Jemima St., Selkirk, MB. A private family interment will follow at the East Selkirk Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk on care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
