GORDON ALLEN LOUTIT (GORD)
Date of Passing: May 17, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON ALLEN LOUTIT (GORD) Tragically, at the St. Boniface Hospital, with his family at his side, on May 17, 2012, Gord passed away. He was only 61 years old. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 39 years, Laurel; his children Shayne (Rod), Keith (Tammy); his seven grandchildren Bailey, Mackenzie, Austin, Justyn, Cadence, Brayden and Sammy; mother Phyllis Loutit; eleven brothers and sisters; many in-laws and many friends. Gord was predeceased by his father Stanley Loutit. Gord was a family man in every sense of the word. He embraced his role as husband, father and grandfather. He loved life. He loved his kids. He loved and adored his grandkids, loving each one individually and equally. He was Dad and Papa. Gord touched the heart of every person he came in contact with. He was a gentle genuine human being. He worked hard at everything he did, whether it be an important part of his employment or working on of his many hobbies and projects. He gave it his all. Like building a parade float or a pirate ship to sail the Red River or wearing some silly costume to a special event, he participated wholeheartedly. He took great pride in transforming a piece of property into a Garden of Eden for his family. His motto was: Go Big or Go Home! He was an exceptional musician, writing and recording songs to inspire people to dream, have goals and to work hard to achieve their goals. He taught by example and was a positive role model to all. Yes, Gord was one in a million! When we found ourselves praying for a miracle, in the end, we all realized that he was the miracle. He taught us all so much by just being himself. A celebration of Gord's life will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 6088 PTH #9 (Main Street) south of Selkirk with Reverend Murray Still officiating. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment ceremony will take place at a later date. Every day that the sun rises, Every Day that the sun sets, The moon, the stars, the sky, We think of you. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Sitting here in 2016 reflecting on the past, Gordie crossed my mind. I did not know him well and had been many years since I saw him but I do remember him. Gordie, your brothers and sisters talk of you often with love in their words but pain in their eyes. You are indeed, and always will be, loved, remembered and missed. - Posted by: Connie Jones (Family Friend) on: Jan 05, 2016

It has been over a year since you left us. Not a day goes by without missing you. Austin and Cadence still talk about you and all the fun times they had with papa and how much they miss you. You were such an important part of our lives and it is so hard to live it without you. As Christmas approaches it's even harder, this was your favourite time of year and you made it so special for your grandchildren. During the winter months curling and bowling on the wii. I miss having coffee, talking with you and hearing your laughter. I wish we could have had more time with you. I'm sure heaven will be rocking this Christmas with your passion and talent for music. We love and miss you so much. xoxoxo - Posted by: Tammy Loutit (Daughter-in-law (Keith's wife)) on: Dec 13, 2013

I was by the office today with my baby, and the girls told me Laurel about Gord, and I was lost for words! I'm so deeply sorry for your loss, I cannot imagine what you are going through, you are such a sweetheart and I miss you so much, you're my awesome office momma, and my heart broke for you when I heard. From everything you would talk about at the office about Gord he was a wonderful man. I wish I knew and I would have came to the funeral. Take care Laurel. You're in my thoughts, see you later. - Posted by: Melanie St. Laurent (Co-worker of Laurel's) on: Jun 08, 2012

Truly surpised and shocked to learn of the loss of father, husband grandfather and friend. It was truly a pleasure to have known you, your humor and input to whatever was going on at the moment. I worked with Gord recently, intermittently and all too briefly. We discussed plans and work that would offer people a chance to find and use their talent, to have success and to make a life. It seems just days ago that we were thinking of the next best opportunities and how to make them work. Always positive, a true believer in people, even ones we never met... it was a joy to work with him...I wish we had more time... As I read this...these words are all too weak and they fail...If it is any help, Gord is one of the precious few people in my life's journey that I will remember until the day I'm gone. To know him, even so briefly, was indeed a gift to me. I hope that I can rise to Gord's example and continue to strive to 'go big"...even beyond what I think possible...and to do it with a smile, optimism and tenacity. Whatever the relationship, I feel that we have all lost and it is a deeply sad thing... - Posted by: David Martin (Colleague) on: May 22, 2012

I had the honour to work with Gord for a few years at the healing centre; we were kind of "room mates" there. Not a day went by that he didn't have a story to tell or some gentle advice. Gord spent his life doing for others and never thinking of himself. You could always feel his presence and energy when he entered a room. I will miss him a great deal. To all of us that knew him, we will all have wonderful memories of his gentle nature and his humour to hold dear to us. Thinking of you Laurel at this time and may his presence always be with you and with all of us. - Posted by: Stu Bailey (Co-worker and friend) on: May 22, 2012
