EDITH RUTH SADOWSKI (nee BERNT) 1936 - 2012 It's with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edith on May 20, 2012 at Concordia Hospital. Surviving Breast Cancer and a 15 year courageous battle against Leukemia (CLL), she succumbed to Fungal Meningitis. Edith (Honey Bunch, Baba) was predeceased by her parents Robert and Emma Bernt and her son Michael (Brenda). She will always be remembered and cherished by her loving husband Bernie and her sons, Terry (Patty), Darrel, and daughter Pamela Braun (Ron). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Richard (Wendy), Jeffrey (Susan), Dylan, Sabrina, Dawson, Scott (Shannon) and six great-grandchildren. Edith was born on March 4, 1936 in Whitemouth, MB and later moved to Balmoral, MB. It was here that her parents raised their nine children. Left to mourn, are sisters Lillian, Jeannie, Helen and sister-in-law Lillian. She later moved to Winnipeg to work in a sewing factory and met her husband Bernie. They were married on November 5, 1955 at Holy Ghost Church in Winnipeg. They settled in Brooklands where they raised their family. She devoted her time in coaching baseball, assisting Cub and Scouts, overseeing the Community Bingo, St. Patrick Church activities and teaching Sunday School. After many years in Brooklands they built mom's dream home in St. Andrews, MB. Mom's hobbies were, sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking and fishing at the family cottage at Westhawk Lake. She was the only family member to catch two fish on a hook at the same time. She enjoyed picking blueberries, mushrooms, playing crib and horseshoes with anyone who would challenge her. Mom always looked forward to family outings and vacations. She had visited many parts of Canada and the world, such as Australia, Europe, Singapore, Thailand, and USA. In her travels she left an everlasting impression on people she met. The family would like to give a special thank-you to Dr. Harris and the Oncology Nursing staff at Concordia Hospital during the course of her many treatments. We also thank the hospital staff on the 3rd floor NE wing for the special care that mom received. We would like to acknowledge Dr. Buchel and the Seven Oak Hospital staff. Also thank you to all the parishioners at Notre Dame Church and many others for your prayers over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare, Concordia Hospital Oncology Department or a charity of your choice. Prayers will be on Friday, May 25 at 7:00 p.m. and Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 26 at 10:30 a.m. both being held in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima, Selkirk, MB with Fr.
