ALMA FELBEL (YANKE)
Born: Feb 20, 1925
Date of Passing: May 26, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALMA FELBEL (nee YANKE) February 20, 1925 - May 26, 2012 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great- grandmother on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the age of 87. Alma is survived by her three children, George (Alice), Eileen and Wayne (Judy); eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, along with her sisters Ida, Annie, Esther, Elsie and her brothers Charlie and Willie and friend Bob Dunsmore. She was predeceased by her husband Wilhelm (Bill) Ernest Felbel whom passed away March 13, 1984; also by her infant daughter Dorothy, her parents Ernestina and August Yanke, her brothers Art, Fred and August, her sisters Helen, Tilly, Olga, Martha, and her son-in-law Garry Rapke. Alma and Bill were married in 1943 and spent their married years in Ashern and Winnipeg with a short time in Sudbury Ontario. When Bill retired from the CN Railway they moved to Silver Bay, a place close to their hearts. They attended Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed the rural lifestyle. Upon Bill's passing Alma moved back to Winnipeg, but always thought of Ashern as home. During her time in Winnipeg Alma continued her relationship with God and attended Peace Lutheran Church. She Enjoyed traveling, and visited Hawaii, Alaska, Central America, and Mexico. Bill and Alma always remained close to their children and grandchildren, travelling back and forth to spend holidays and special occasions together. Alma loved to cook and bake, a visit was never complete until a meal was served followed by dessert. In her later years when the grandchildren started to have their own family she could not cook for so many, so she decided to make a new tradition and would take the entire family out to dinner. It became an obsession with her to provide a meal for her loved ones no matter what, thus everytime one would go to visit her, she was always ready to take them out and feed them. Having money in her wallet was another obsession, as she always had to pay. With the onset of Alzheimer's and her move to Middlechurch the one thing that never changed even when speaking became difficult was her desire to provide a meal for her family. Though her memory was gone her desire to go out and have a meal and her need to have money in her wallet to pay for it, remained instinctive. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Ashern, MB with Pastor Erwin Tippel officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment to follow in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery. The family would like to acknowledge the excellent staff at Middlechurch Personal Care Home who were appreciated so very much. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St. Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Arrangements by: Arnason Funeral Home Ashern-Lundar (204) 768-2072 1-866-323-3593

Aunty Alma was very much a second Mom. Unfortunately I haven't been in contact with family members for a few years. But Aunty Alma and her family were always in my heart and frequently on my mind. My most heartfelt sympathy goes out to everyone - Eileen & family, Wayne and family and George and family. Love doesn't die when our loved ones pass, it continues on until we pass over and then we will all be reunited. Love always and forever Karen McMillan - Posted by: Karen McMillan (NIece) on: May 30, 2012
