WILLIAM (WILLIE) STANLEY SHINDRUK April 24, 1926 - May 29, 2012 Willie Shindruk, aged 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, in the Selkirk General Hospital. Willie was born in Elphinstone, MB, on April 24, 1926, where he went to school and worked on the family farm until the age of 18. He married his wife of 59 years, Mabel Murray (2010) on January 8, 1951, and in 1953, had his only child, Patricia. In the 1970s Willie and Mabel moved to the Interlake and settled in Stonewall. Over the years Willie worked many jobs including building the Minnedosa and Portage Bypasses, farming, managing the BK Cattle Ranch and a welder at Standard Limestone Quarrys until his retirement. He also enjoyed reading, fixing cars, building horse trailers and long scenic drives. In his 70s, he took a job at Shelmerdine's building buffalo corrals and as a mechanic and welder. Willie moved to Betel Home in Selkirk briefly before his final days in Selkirk General Hospital. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place with a private family burial at a later date.
