JAMES ALEXANDER (ALEX) SMITH The family of James Alexander Alex Smith, age 84 of Brandon, formerly of Swan River announce his death in Brandon on May 30, 2012. Alex is survived by his wife Marguerite Martin and his children; Charyle, Cindy, Curtis, Barbara and Harley. Alex taught junior high in Swan River for many years. He retired to Brandon where he was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. The Ceremony to Celebrate Alex's life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 114 Ashgrove Boulevard, Brandon, on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Jason Zinko will officiate. Another Ceremony will be held at the Swan Valley Funeral Chapel, Swan River, Manitoba on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in memory of Alex be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Manitoba Lung Association.
