I met Joe, in the late 50's, while he was employed, with N.K. Police Force. Joe was a no-nonsense Cop & I was a Teenager. Joe was firm, but not without compassion, and I quickly gained a great respect, for him. The good ones, seem to always, leave too soon! Joe, was a good One! I met Joe in the late 50's, while he was employed with the North Kildonan Police Force. He was a no-nonsense Cop, & I was a teenager. Joe was firm, but compassionate & fair and I immd. gained a great respect for him. I moved to BC.,in mid 60's & never seen or spoke with Joe again, until a mutual friend called in summer of 2009 & had Joe come on the ph. My God! That made my day! So-long Joe. May you R.I.P. I would like to offer our condolences to the family. Big Joe had a tough exterior but a very big heart and would always be there to lend a hand if needed. I enjoyed my time working for Joe as the Assistant Harbour Master and learned many many things from him. I enjoyed the many dinners at his house and the ones we both attended as members of the Son's of Italy. Joe was an avid outdoorsman that loved fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and socializing with his many friends. He always talked highly about his daughters and grandchildren. He enjoyed Butala Lake where he opened his cottage to his friends and their friends. Joe, you had a huge impact on my life, you will never be forgotten. To my dear, sweet cousins Sandy, Janey and Carol, I share your sorrow on the loss of your wonderful Dad! What a great life your Dad lived and the wonderful memories that you will always have with you. If you take but a moment each day to reflect on these memories, your Dad will live on in your thoughts forever. Each day is a gift to be cherished. Tell your kids you love them each and every day, and know that you are first and foremost in my thoughts and prayers as you move through this difficult time. - Posted by: Michelle DeMings (Niece) on: Jun 05, 2012
