ALLAN CLIFTON MCCLURE August 14, 1927 - June 5, 2012 Allan passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba after a brief illness. Allan will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 62 years, Bette; his sister, Kay (Bob), brother, Dave (Margaret) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James and May; brothers, Jimmy, Hank and Jack. Allan was a long time member of the Gyro Club of Edmonton and an avid golfer. Allan and Bette lived in Winnipeg and Toronto, but spent most of their years together in Edmonton, Alberta where they built the company, Ringbinder together. Upon their retirement they spent many enjoyable winters in Arizona entertaining family and friends at their home but finally chose to return to Winnipeg to be closer to family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Victoria General Hospital for their kindness and compassion but would especially like to thank Allan's niece Brenda Grey for the love and care that she gave him in his final days with the help of her sister Arlene Solvason. Allan was a caring and generous person and we will truly miss him. As per his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no service. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Allan's sudden illness and passing was such devastating news. We will all forever carry so many wonderful memories of him in our hearts. I will personally miss the discussions that he and I would have about work/business, golf, and life in general. He had many great anecdotes about growing-up in Winnipeg with Dad, Aunt Kay, Uncles Jimmy, Hank, and Jack, and Grandpa and Grandma McClure, as well as about his and Auntie Bette's experiences in business and life Edmonton. I am also truly grateful that we were able to play golf together, and just wish we had been able to do so earlier in life and also more frequently. Allan still played exceptionally well into his 70s, and continued to demonstrate a passion and respect for the game. - Posted by: Brian McClure (Nephew) on: Jun 17, 2012

  • We were saddened to get a phone call from Yvonne's sister in Winnipeg about Allan's passing. This touches us even more because Allan was the best man at our wedding in 1955. Having worked with Allan at Toronto Type Foundry for five years, I have very special memories of a great guy. Bette, our deepest condolences to you at this time. - Posted by: Peter & Yvonne Whitehouse in Toronto (A friend and associate at Torronto Type Foundry in Winnipeg) on: Jun 10, 2012
