Born in 1921, she spent a short time as a novice with the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary but decided that this was not to be her calling. She met Rosaire shortly thereafter and they married on October 18, 1949, a day that had weather from all four seasons. She briefly worked at the Monarch Wear manufacturer in St-Pierre and then devoted many years to raising her five children before going back to work outside of the home. Grandma loved to spoil the children and grandchildren and she always had special treats to give them. She was a real trooper when Rosaire was bedridden, visiting him every day and trying to cheer him up in spite of his illness. When she moved to Winnipeg at the ripe old age of 89, she found a new home at Villa Aulneau and loved to participate at the numerous activities for the residents. A funeral mass will be celebrated at the Saint-Pierre-Jolys Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 13 at 11:00 a.m. Private family burial will follow in the St. Pierre-Jolys Cemetery. • When I was a little girl I thought all mothers were called Irene. Silly me! Later I knew better. It was nice to call her ma tante Irene, she was a special woman in many ways. Love you all...Suzanne - Posted by: Suzanne Carriere (Niece) on: Jun 14, 2012
